We are beyond excited you will be coming to our favorite city in the world and home, Austin, Texas.
Below we are sharing a few of our favorite Austin Classics and things to do.
It will be such an exciting weekend and we are looking forward to every second with you!
South Congress is iconic for many reasons - live music, shopping, and some of the best food in town. Walking along South Congress is a must do if you've never been to Austin! If you are staying at our Venue or near then you will be in the right spot and already in the heart of SoCo.
We are brunch people through and through! We highly recommend the below.
Sit down but less formal (no reservation needed): Better Half Cocktails & Coffee. Another option: Joanns (on SoCo)
Reservation Necessary but a FAVORITE: Paperboy
Breakfast Tacos: Veracruz and Taco Deli
If you are in the mood for some classic Texas BBQ we highly recommend Terry Blacks. It's absolutely delicious and close to South Congress/Downtown area.
Some other BBQ spots that Austin is known for but are a bit farther: The Salt Lick BBQ and La Barbeque.
Walking Townlake is Elaine's favorite early morning activity. plus it's close to downtown and the venue. The 3 mile trail is usually the go to however, there is a 5 and 10 mile trail around Austin that can be taken! This is a fantastic way to get outside and see the lake & downtown views.
If you are looking for a classic Austin Tex Mex restaurant then Matt's El Rancho is your go to! We recommend their margs and a Bobs Queso. We've always had a good time here and would recommend to anyone who has never been to Austin.
Please prepare to either have a long wait time or go before the 6 p.m. dinner rush.
Barton Springs is an Austin classic and cold plunges are a must. We know our wedding will be during the colder months but with this unpredictable Texas weather, Barton Springs is never off limits.
During the Christmas Season, Austin really shows up and out with fun holiday themed ways to spend your time.
A few recommendations that are Christmas & holiday specific: Austin Trail of Lights at Zilker Park, Mozartz on the lake has a Holiday Light Show & ice skating on top of Whole Foods downtown.
Not to mention there are always a plethora of Christmas themed bars: Donn's Depot, Nickel City, Lefty's, Kitty Cohens, and Gibson Street Bar being some of our favorites as well as being accessible !
